Grand Master's Christmas Appeal
In need of assistance?

Grand Master’s Christmas Appeal - The Asbestos Diseases Society of Australia

One of the most daunting tasks that confronts every Grand Master on an annual basis is the choice of the recipient of the Grand Master’s Christmas Appeal. It is an agonising task made doubly difficult by two main factors. Firstly, there are so many organisations in genuine need of financial support. They are administered by genuine, compassionate, hardworking people who have identified an urgent need for assistance within our community. There are Children in distressed circumstances, adolescents at risk, elderly in need of care and the sick in need of treatment.

Many have received some measure of support from us in the past, and are both hopeful and deserving of assistance again in the future. There are, of course, many more that are just as deserving who, as yet, have not been the beneficiary of our assistance.
Secondly brethren, I am conscious of your unselfish support to the Annual Christmas Appeal and feel a grave responsibility to choose in accordance with your wishes. So many of our brethren are deeply involved with and committed to charitable and community groups and I would dearly love to help you all if only it were possible.
This year, however, I am fully confident my choice will meet with very broad approval. It is the Asbestos Disease Society of Australia. Your contributions will be used to purchase a vital piece of equipment that will enable a plain X-ray image to be elevated to a high resolution, high colour definition CT scan. This will increase diagnostic certainty for those unfortunate people who have, in the past, been exposed to deadly asbestos fibres. This early diagnosis is crucial and will, in many instances, improve treatment regimes and even save lives.
Brethren, I can do no more than ask you to please carefully consider supporting this appeal on a personal level, on a Lodge level and if possible both. Your donations will be gratefully received regardless of the amount, please give what you can afford. A Christmas gift of life to someone in the future will be a wonderful return gift for us all.
All donations over $2.00 are tax deductible. Please make cheques payable to: ‘Grand Lodge’ and on the back write ‘GM Xmas Appeal’.

MW Bro T F (Frank) Hayes,
GRAND MASTER
